Classes

At level 15 you choose a class at the Soul Shrine in Dawnmere Village. A class gives you a permanent attribute bonus, a passive effect, its own combat skills and access to class gear. To earn it, you win a trial fight.

  • Monk — close combat with fast strikes, self-healing and a strong Qi burst. Grows with cultivation.
  • Warrior — sturdy front-liner with more HP and defence, a stun, a self-heal and a taunt that makes it the protector of a party.
  • Sorcerer — fire and frost spells, a mana shield and lots of mana. Fragile but hits hard.
  • Archer — precise shots, many crits, enemy debuffs, and the best gatherer.

  1. Reach level 15.
  2. Travel to Dawnmere Village and open the Soul Shrine. You can’t start the trial during another action or fight.
  3. Pick the class you want. A trial fight starts against the Echo of a Former Life, scaled to your level. You fight with your current gear and stats plus the skills of the class you picked, so you can try them out.
  4. If you win, you get the class at once: its attribute bonus is added permanently, its skills stay on your action bar, and you get 800 EXP.
  5. If you lose, flee or leave, nothing is lost. Your HP stay as they were, your gear does not wear, and you are not Weakened. You can start a new trial after 1 min, with the same or a different class.

The trial gives no Gold, no loot and no skill mastery. The echo’s stats at your level:

Yes, in a later life. The Soul Tree node Early Calling lets you take the trial from level 10 once you have bought it with soul points from an Ascension.

  • You want to survive easily: Warrior. More HP and defence, a stun to skip enemy turns and a heal paid with stamina. In a party you protect the others.
  • You like big numbers and planning: Sorcerer. The highest skill damage, but you manage mana and use shields instead of armour. Put points into Wisdom.
  • You gather a lot or love crits: Archer. The best crit chance and an extra roll chance when hunting and gathering herbs.
  • You meditate a lot and like a mix: Monk. Cheap fast strikes, a dodge that heals, a defence buff and more Qi from meditation.

Try the class you are unsure about in the trial first: losing is free, and you see all its skills in action.

Not in this life. Once you pass a trial, the class is yours, and the Soul Shrine offers no new trial. Only an Ascension resets it: in your next life you choose again, and you can pick a different class.

When you ascend, the class you hold becomes a class legacy of your soul: a small bonus that stays in every later life, whatever class you choose then. Each class counts once, so playing different classes over several lives collects all four:

Class Legacy
Monk +3% Qi
Warrior +2% max HP
Sorcerer +3% max mana
Archer +1% crit chance
