NPC quests and the notice board

Quests are tasks that people in the world give you: bring them something, defeat certain monsters, craft an item or travel somewhere. You accept them from the person, do the task at your own pace and hand them in for EXP, Gold and often items. The notice board in Dawnmere Village adds short daily and weekly notices.

Each quest giver has a fixed place in the scene of a zone. Tap the figure to open its window: it greets you, lists the quests it offers and the ones you can hand in there. The same markers appear on the world map next to the place’s name (the most important one per place), so you can see from anywhere who is waiting for you.

Marker Meaning
yellow ! a new quest is available
yellow ? a quest is ready to hand in here
grey ? you have a quest running that is handed in here

Some people greet you differently once you have finished certain quests. After an Ascension they don’t know you any more and greet you as a stranger.

  1. Accept the quest in the giver’s window. Some quests only open at a certain level, profession level or after an earlier quest; a chain continues with the same person.
  2. Do the task. Your progress shows in the quest log (the Quests tab) and, on larger screens, in the quest tracker next to the scene. For delivery quests the items are taken from your bags when you hand in.
  3. Hand it in. Go back to the person marked with the yellow ?. Some quests are handed in to someone else, for example a letter you carry to another zone; the quest log names the person and the place.

Rewards are paid when you hand in: EXP, Gold, sometimes profession EXP and items. Some quests let you choose one of several reward packages. You can abandon a running quest from the quest log at any time; its progress is lost, and you can accept it again later.

The Notice Board stands in Dawnmere Village. It shows short jobs for everyone: 2 daily notices and 1 weekly notice, picked from the notices that fit your level. Players of a similar level see the same notices on the same day.

  • Daily notices change at 00:00 UTC, the weekly notice on Monday at 00:00 UTC. The board shows how long the current notices stay up.
  • Each notice can be done once per day or week. A notice you have accepted stays valid even if the board changes before you hand it in.
  • If you abandon a notice, you can accept it again in the same day or week, starting from zero.

An Ascension starts a new life, and the world forgets everything you did:

  • Zone quests and the story chapters of Act I and II can be done again in every life. After an Ascension the people offer them anew, from the first chapter on. See Story.
  • A few later story moments happen only once for your family; once done, they stay done in every later life.
  • Quests you haven’t handed in yet are closed on an Ascension without a reward. An unfinished chapter can be started again in the new life.
  • The notice board follows the calendar, not your life: an Ascension doesn’t give you today’s notices again.
  • Look for the yellow !. After the First steps chain, the first quest giver is waiting in Dawnmere Village.
  • Combine quests with your route. Many quests ask for monsters or materials of one zone; accept them before you travel.
  • Check the board daily. The daily notices are quick, and the weekly notice pays more.
  • You can have at most 10 quests running at once, notices included.
