Academy of the Five Phases

The Academy of the Five Phases in Dawnmere Village teaches courses for cultivators who reached Foundation Establishment. Elemental Infusion lets your element affinity flow into your basic attack and physical skills; Re-attunement changes your affinity.

Normally only skills with an element, like Qi Strike, use your affinity. With Infusion, the attacks you choose do too: the basic attack, Power Strike and, at the highest rank, your class’s physical damage skills such as Cleave or Aimed Shot.

  • Against a monster of the element your affinity beats, an infused hit deals extra damage — a share of the full element advantage, growing with your rank.
  • Against the element that beats yours, an infused hit deals normal damage, never less.
  • Infused hits don’t break a monster’s ward; only real elemental skills do.
  • You need an element affinity first (chosen at Qi Condensation stage 2).

The bonus column shows the extra damage at each rank. A rank opens once your cultivation reaches the stage in the “Requires” column.

Each training needs essences of your element (for Re-attunement: of the new element). You brew them with Alchemy:

An Ascension resets your affinity and your infusion. Your family remembers the highest rank you trained: in the next life those ranks cost only 50% of the Gold; the materials cost the same.

  • Infuse what you use most. At rank I that is usually the basic attack or Power Strike.
  • Pick the affinity for your hunting grounds. Infusion only helps against one element, so it pays off where most monsters have the element your affinity beats.
  • Plan the essences. Their ingredients come from the marshes and the coast.
