The Cliffs
The Cliffs are the way from the lowlands into the mountains: steep scree, an old mine and an eyrie above the clouds, for characters from level 20 on. You get there by the Mule Track from Dawnmere Village. There is ore and game here, but no trees and no fishing grounds.
How do you get there?
Section titled “How do you get there?”In Dawnmere Village you start the Mule Track, a timed action of 5 min for 25 Gold. You need at least level 20. The fare is paid at the start and refunded if you cancel; Momentum shortens the trip.
Instant travel does not work from the Cliffs. Down to Dawnmere takes you back to the village for free. From level 30, Cross the Bridge leads over the ravine to Castle Acula (30 Gold).
What can you do there?
Section titled “What can you do there?”The Cliffs have three places: the Slope with the mine, the goats, the herbs and the fights, the Eyrie for meditation, and the Muleteer’s Hut to rest, buy supplies and start the way down.

- Mining gives
Magnetite Ore and
Silver Ore. Smelted with charcoal they become
Steel Ingot and
Silver Ingot, see Mining, smithing and geodes. Master miners find geodes here.
- The steel pickaxe. The Cliffs’ mining actions have two tool tiers: the
Steel Pickaxe is faster and digs up more ore than the
Iron Pickaxe. The best tier you carry counts; the table above shows both. You smith the steel pickaxe yourself or buy it at the smithy in the village.
- Hunting mountain goats needs a knife; herbs grow without a tool, a sickle makes it faster.
- Meditation at the Eyrie gives more Qi than at the Spirit Spring.
What does the Muleteer sell?
Section titled “What does the Muleteer sell?”The Muleteer sells supplies for the mountain, including charcoal for your ingots. Like the other traders outside the village, he does not buy anything.

Which monsters live there?
Section titled “Which monsters live there?”On the lower slope you meet the Scree Slime, the
Mountain Cat and the
Vulture. From level 30 the upper slope adds the
Frozen Miner, the
Cave Troll and the
Pass Bandit. The fight card shows “Recommended: Foundation Establishment” there while you are still below that realm.
- The
Carrion Matriarch is an elite that attacks through a random event while you gather or meditate.
- The
Cave Troll Chieftain is the zone boss, level 32, from character level 30, with a respawn timer of 1 h. In a party fight he answers with an area attack.

Tips and common mistakes
Section titled “Tips and common mistakes”- Bring a pickaxe, a knife and charcoal. You smith
Charcoal from logs; the Muleteer sells it too, at a markup.
- Break through before the upper slope. Without Foundation Establishment the monsters from level 30 hit hard.
- Sell in the village. Nobody up here buys your loot.
- Smith the steel pickaxe early. It pays off on every mining run in the mountains.
